FAQs about hotels in Cascais

Laid-back Suburban Beach Resort

Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.

King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.

Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.

Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.

Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.

    Cascais is a beautiful area.

Cascais is a beautiful area. Easily one of the most prettiest places we have stayed in. A beautiful beach, shops, restaurants and an array of beautiful buildings. Easy to pop on the train to Lisbon which took 40 mins and worth the few euros it cost. We visited in Nov so the weather wasn't hot but we had a lovely warm breeze plus a few showers but you expect that at that time of year.

This in my favourite town in Portugal (though I've yet to visit Porto). This was our 4th visit. Don't stay in Lisbon, stay in Cascais and visit Lisbon by train. There are many inexpensive yet good restaurants. It is a beautiful place.

Best place in Portugal as my understanding.

Best place in Portugal as my understanding. If allow me to recommend, Lisbon is not so worth to stay long, perhaps 2 days enough, but Cascais is worth to stay long. One thing I must remind that Sinatra Castle is not so same nice as many instructions mentioned, furthermore, traffic management is very poor, you may cost 2 hours to take bus from train station to the palace, then you are easy refused to enter due to miss the schedule, local staff in palace very much unfriendly.

The BCascais staff (Mara, Bruna, and Ricardo) were so welcoming and attentive! Mara went out of her way to ensure our baby boy had pancakes each morning and even had a table specially prepared for us with baby utensils and plates. She also made sure to relay this information to Bruna so she could also prepare in the same way for us! We LOVED the breakfast each morning, the smell of the entire hotel, and the location. The Loft room was perfect for our family as we felt like we had more than enough room for us and our active baby.

We went to Cascais for my mum's birthday, and the hotel staff made us feel so welcome, they made my mum's birthday so special, with a little surprise in our room. Breakfast was excellent, very tasty and good variety for any dietary requirements, fresh local food. The room was comfortable with good size bed, and the hotel was very clean and well maintained. The best part is the staff, they love what they do, and you feel it. I recommend Art 4 you Cascais suites, the team will make you feel like you are part of a family 😊

The hotel is in a great location, just ten minutes walk from the middle of town. The rooms are lovely and clean. we stayed in a suite with a balcony and sea view and it was spacious and had everything we needed. We travelled as a large group and the hotel were welcoming and accommodating. We had a number of family and friends staying at the hotel as we were getting married in Portugal and the hotel staff were so lovely and even opened the indoor bar for us on the day of the wedding before guests were being collected.

The apartment was super comfortable. Two big bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and a big kitchen with a dining room. Exactly as described and on photos. Aircondition! A kind of tarrace / garden with a common space for all guests. Super location for sightseeing this part of Portugal. 5-15 minutes by car to all beaches. 30 minutes to Lisbone. 20 minutes to Baca da Roca. And the owners are very friendly people. They welcomed us with a bottle of wine and a bottle of Port wine! I recommend.

Where to start! We had an AMAZING experience at the Farol Hotel for our honeymoon. We were upgraded to a beautiful room with a terrace and fantastic sea view and watched the sunset with a bottle of champagne. The breakfast was outstanding and the service truly impeccable. So thankful to the entire Farol team who made our stay so special! The location is also wonderful, just a quick walk into downtown Cascais- but lovely sea views and pool for the ultimate relaxing stay. 10/10!

Casa Vela is a beautiful little hotel tucked away in a residential street just a few moments away from the city center of Cascais. The facilities are exceptionally well maintained and the garden out the back is a little oasis of tranquility. The staff were exceptionally attentive throughout our entire stay and were able to cater to any and every request we had, however big or small. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more, I will definitely be back.

The excellent experience started in the check-in with an amazing staff team. The room decoration was very nice. We stayed in a triple room, in which all beds were top quality (comfort) and the room very beautiful. The breakfast was enough diversity and the scrambled eggs were better than in many 4 or 5 stars hotel I stayed. The location is very central in Cascais, and close to the commercial, food, service, beach, and train station areas.

This is like a 5 star hotel, but better. Feel yourself like home, staying at relatives place where you are wanted and missed very much. Incredible feeling all thanks to the owner Ana, an absolute number one host in the world. Beds are fantastic, everything shines, very cool location, 15 min walk to center, 8 min to a huge super market pingo doce (walk through the yards).

The Pestana Cidadela Cascais is in a stellar location. The hotel itself is set among beautiful historic buildings, and our room had a great view of the marina & surrounding 16th century citadel walls. Lots of art work and interesting architectural features - top marks for how they have incorporated old & new.
