Monchique Springs is a small village a few minute drive from Monchique town. It's much nicer than the town, which seems quite neglected. In contrast Monchique Spa is green, beautiful, well kept and much more interesting with an air of a spa in Switzerland, or England. A must to see!

A beautiful Roman Spa town set high in the hills above the Algarve; the hotel we stayed in was part of the spa which has been bought by an ambitious hotelier who has yet to improve all the buildings to a satisfactory standard. The signage at the hotel is woeful we spent the first two hours of our visit completely lost. If the entrance to the guest parking is down the side of a factory which it is, tell people rather than leave them driving around confused

Monchique is a pretty little town in the mountains, with quiet cobbled streets, boutique shops and wonderful cafes. The new Velochique Cafe is amazing. The area is dotted with incredible trails for walking and cycling and is a great place to stay for a quiet night but still close enough to the Algarve to visit during the day. Silves is a wonderful nearby historic town with an 11th century fort and more wonderful shops and restaurants. Monchique has a good mid sized supermarket that caters for all your needs too. And there are some good local restuarants.

Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Monchique was lovely and there is a good supermarket for self caterers. Had the best food at Vintage in the centre. Foia just up the hill was perfect for views. Brilliant stop for the race track at Portimao.

Monchique in august is a quiet, little, hilly town, a good start location for visiting activities in the surroundings: hiking, karting, kayakking (Lagos), visiting castles and so on. The houses are either nicely painted infresh colors or the y are in a bad shape and locked. In the town and also around it, are multiple trails to walk/hike.
Incredible location just a few minutes walk from the town center, beautiful views over the town and surrounding hills, massive bonus of a stove and lots of firewood for the chilly evenings, really quick response from the host and he facilitated an early check in for us, spacious apartment and well equipped kitchen with nice touches like tea and biscuits, salt, pepper, oil etc. for cooking. We really enjoyed a few days chilling out here and wondering around the beautiful town of Monchique, would recommend this place to anyone!
One of the nicest hotel / guest house experiences I have had - we were road cycling around the Algarve and stayed the night after riding up the Foia mountain road. The views and sunset from the terrasse and lounge windows were incredible. The food for dinner and breakfast was excellent and plentiful, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. This is the sort of place you can really relax and probably want to stay more than you booked for. Would really recommend and will hopefully come back.
What an incredible view. I wish we had had longer to stay at Vilafoia and enjoy this special boutique hotel and its rare setting. The room we had, with a sitting lounge and large balcony, was spacious and well-equipped. Tip to the wise: it’s a good idea to book Monchique restaurants for dinner several days in advance if you are coming for the weekend. We actually didn’t find a table anywhere! Thanks to Margarita and Stephanie for their kind attention!
- staff of the hotel is amazing, wonderful persons, customer oriented that go the extra mile. All people we interacted with (reception, security, cleaning, breakfast) were extremely kind and pleasant!
- hotel facilities well maintained, multiple restaurants, clean and spacious rooms
- the location, immerse in the peacefulness of the nature and just 20 min driving from Portimao
- excellent breakfast with good assortment of products
Staying at Casa Atman was an unusual experience with unforgettable views of the Monchique Mountains and the countryside down to the Atlantic coast with the cities of Lagos and Portimão. It is a great base for trips to both the South and West coast (Odexeice, Aljezur, Sagres). Maria and João were warm, friendly and professional hosts. The modern apartment and personalized breakfasts created a truly homey yet private atmosphere.
Very clean and new apartment on the first floor (there are two holiday apartments). Spacious and well-equipped and right in the middle of Monchique. Lucinda was very friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy! We enjoyed our stay here but it was too short! There is a good pasteleria next door and a little supermarket.
I work in tourism for almost 40 years. A hotel usually is for sleeping and eating. Here it’s to meet the most beautiful people that own and administrate the place. When people have big heart the place can’t be bad. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people.
Great location with wonderful views with a lovely garden to walk around and a generous pool. The hosts/family very friendly and helpful. Several bar/restaurants nearby (family run chicken restaurant very good) and Monchique around ten minutes away.
Spectacular setting with wonderful view to the Algarve coast. Close to excellent restaurants. Good access to hiking/walking trails in the Serra de Monchique. Friendly and very helpful staff. Comfortable large rooms with generous balconies.
The location of this dreamlike B&B is wonderful. Tucked away in the quiet valley of Monchique, it is a complete change of scenery after coming from the coast. Katinka is a wonderful host and provided a delicious home made breakfast.
A lovely decorated house on a hill looking down on Caldas de Monchique. Lots of nooks and crannies in the chalet itself- including a stone basement with a fine pool table. Overall, a very enjoyable stay in Monchique at this Chalet.
Great restoration hotel, in a picturesque location. Excellent breakfast and diner. Great swimming pool in nice garden surroundings. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The bed, mattress and linens are high quality.
Beautiful location with fabulous views. Lovely pool, quiet and relaxing. The hotel is really good value for money and was very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Caldas de Monchique is an amazing location, the pool, the garden, the views and the old buildings are so beautiful, and the place is well-maintained. The breakfast is good.
The breakfast was good. The garden is beautiful. The location is also in a nice area of Monchique. They clean your room daily. Some of the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Location, rooms and staff were all very good. The outdoor open pool is good. Breakfast was very nice and we sat out on the veranda. Hotel is big but well appointed.
The pool is amazing, in luxurious vegetation, the restaurant, serves good Portuguese food and the breakfast is basic but good.
The hotelier is very friendly
