Breakfast was wonderful and cooked to order along with a huge buffet. The staff was fantastic and served us port by the fire in the afternoon. The Lawrences was perfectly located as well.

Sintra is a beautiful town. There are many places to see, but so many other tourists it is hard so some attractions. If you want to go to attractions you need to purchase tickets ahead of time and make sure you have reliable transportation to the attractions. Allow ample time to get to where you are going b/c traffic to the tourist sights are usually jammed with traffic.
Lots of places to eat and shop.

Historical part of Sintra certainly deserves a visit when you are in the area. In my opinion one full day will do to see visit the park and some of the palaces. You would start early so a stay overnight might be more convenient for some.Tickets are easily booked online and I purchased an audio tour to listen to on my phone. There are are tuktuk or taxi drivers around that can bring you to the entrance of the park from where you can walk to the Palace de Pena and other sites. There are several entrances. Instead going to the busy main entrance I took a tuktuk to the entrance of the Valley of the Lakes, a 45 min. walk away from Palace de Pena. It a beautiful and quiet part of the park and I took a detour to see the chalet and garden of the Countess of Edla, which I loved even more than the palace itself.
Visiting the palace involved long waits in line and walking in files through the rooms. Not my thing. The park is huge with a diversity in plants and trees, it has a camelea and a fern garden, just nice to wonder around for a few hours. Bring snacks and drinks if you want to avoid the waiting line for the cafeteria at the palace.

Lots of walking.
Lots of walking. Ideally 3-4 days to hit everything comfortably. Old Town is closed to motor traffic so rideshare, taxis, and public transportaion are your best bet. Rideshare works to the sites well but can often be a problem getting back

It is perfect place for two days visit from Lisbon.
It is perfect place for two days visit from Lisbon. First day we managed to visit Quinta da Regaleira, next day - Pena and Cabo de Roca, and at the first half of the next day - Monserrate Palace. It was worth to visit everything. One bad thing is the local transport company Scotturb. Overpriced tickets with almost no options except 24h ticket. If you don't need the day ticket, I think using a taxi is better.
The facility is wonderful, attractive, ideally located, plenty of outdoor spaces to relax. The breakfast offerings are tasty and varied. They have a well stocked espresso machine, and offer great selections of wine and beer.
Rui the manager is amazingly attentive and professional. He speaks perfect English and is happy to make dinner reservations or offer recommendations on how best to enjoy all Sintra has to offer.
I highly recommend Hotel Nova Sintra.
We spent our last night of more than thirty in Portugal here. were welcomed in the warmest fashion. We had take away and were set a table in the restaurant, allowed to stay at the hotel after our check-out. The location and design are superb, the hop on hop off bus stops right outside the gate, there was parking and the pool was quiet and huge.
We wish we had more time to sit in the garden and watch the clouds. Will definitely come back again.
A great stay - probably one of our best during our five weeks of traveling in Portugal. Good parking - great breakfast and a room that was really a double room. This is an older building but it has been renovated "first class". We loved it. Wifi was good. Great shower!!! This is a 10 out of 10 stay!! We only wish that it was a little closer to the "old town" area - not bad walking down but a chore walking back. Second day we took the bus.
we loved everything. the staff was kind and helpful. they helped us plan our time here and had good suggestions. the pool felt amazing after a warm day and they even offered a massage at an affordable price. the breakfast was tasty and had a good variety. the location was beautiful, safe, and quiet, with off-street parking. the rooms were clean and comfortable. this was our best hotel in our whole time in Portugal.
View is great. The property is a little oasis, ? former orchard. you can see the castle and Pena palace from the property. Pool looks good but we did not use it. Beds were comfortable enough, i.e. soft on top ( rarity in Portugal). Breakfast was fairly standard but we loved it - best bread we had in Portugal. We also liked the access to the communal kitchen, although for us it was just for coffee.
Good location in Sintra for exloring the palaces. Great room with all necessary facilities. However, the biggest draw are the hosts who are amazingly helpful, provide a host of valuable information to a tourist and are generally very interesting people to talk to. This is the best thing there is in staying in small private-run hotels - meeting real people. A real pleasure.
The owner, Antonio, is one of the kindest hosts you’ll ever meet. He is so sincere and goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. The beds are super comfortable and the facilities are clean. There is a nice place to hang outside. The location is just a short walk from restaurants and the train station. One of the best places I’ve stayed at here in Portugal.
This was a lovely boutique hotel in a great location in Sintra, the room was spacious, well furnished and it had a great view of the valley of the fox. The staff were very helpful and friendly and gave some great recommendations. This place had a charm to it, very unique. It was a really enjoyable two night stay!
Hosts, cleanliness, location and apartment (4 bdrms!!) all exceeded our expectations. One of the best rentals of our Spain and Portugal trip for sure!
I read past comments before booking and was amazed to see that they had fulfilled most all suggestions!
Appreciated the luggage storage as well. 🙂 Lovely place!
Aguamel was a huge pleasure to stay at. Super charming, amazing location, best breakfast EVER, and such friendly and personalized service. A true boutique hotel of old, the kind they don’t make too often anymore. THANK YOU Manuel for all your tips and friendliness — we will definitely be back!
new, nice modern "boutique hotel" style place. Staff was very kind and helpfully, Nice common lounge area with small indoor pool. Located just few steps form the village centre with restarants, cafe and beuatiful view from the cliff.
Wonderful boutique hotel within easy walking distance of the train station. Very charming and comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was great as well. I would absolutely stay here again!
Excellent location. Excellent service. Superb breakfast. This boutique hotel really knows how to look after their guests. 10/10 all the way. Well done Sintra Boutique hotel. I would definitely stay again.
Everything. best sleep I had in Portugal! Karen was lovely and so hospitable. We had the family suite 2 Adults and 3 young adults. It was great to also have a breakfast supplied in the morning.
one of the best stays in Portugal, very nice and friendly owners, good location next to main road, easy to find, newly equipped, very cozy and warm, loved it there very much
