The view is stunning. Room is spacious and has everything you need plus a balcony to step out on. Breakfast was ample and a fair price, and you could get coffee or tea any time of day, with no charge.
The staff was wonderful, and very helpful, giving a little history of Setubal and recommending restaurants.
Parking underneath was easy. If you wanted, you could walk down the hill to the center ~ about 15-20 minutes.

Setubal is not a big city but it is quite lively. There are plenty of restaurants and bars and a lot to explore. The tourist information is great for advice and bookings. It is recommended to visit the national park, the Troia peninsula is good for a stroll and dolphin watching is great.

There is a variety of activities here.
There is a variety of activities here. Parts of the city are in decline, common in many Portugal cities, but likewise there are other areas that are very nice. We are seniors, 67 yo, and we walked everywhere, even at night, to restaurants, and felt quite safe. The main area of Avenida Luiza Todi has many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants with a variety of cuisines. Nice grocery Pingo Doce right there. Very helpful Tourism Office. There are a couple Museums, working waterfront, and a linear park through the center of the city with cafes, sculptures, benches and fountains. Some wonderful plazas and squares.
A short drive to a beautiful beach, and a mountaintop National Park, with hiking and fantastic views. We drove over this and visited wineries to taste wine. A very nice area less hectic than some areas of Lisbon, just 1/2 hour away.
Setùbal has an absolutely amazing public market on the Avenida Luiza Todi. We were only here for three nights, but could have found more to do with a longer visit.

I stayed three nights and that was perfect length to do a trip outside and see the city and castle and try some fresh grilled fish on the restaurants. Go to Setubal to experience a little rough side of Portugal for budget travellers it is also less expensive than many other cities in Portugal. For golfers stay in Setubal, Troia Island were very sleepy after 18.00.

I must admit, I'm torn between sharing the secret of Setúbal's beauty and wanting to keep this gem all to myself. The stunning beaches, delectable food, breathtaking views, and warm-hearted locals are like treasures I'd like to hoard. However, if you decide to visit Setúbal, just savor the experience as I do every time I'm there, and you'll understand why I'm so reluctant to let go of this hidden paradise.

Check was really easy.
Check was really easy. Entrance hall is nice but room lacked some soul- no pictures or colour etc. Shower was tired but it was clean. Slightly out of town, and up a hill, we were fine as fit bit disabilities might struggle. It did the job as it was a 1 night stop off.

Anyone driving to Setubal needs to know that they have recently introduced a zonal parking system and there is little long stay parking available.
Apart from this we found Setubal to be a beautiful City with loads of lovely parks, riverside promenades, narrow streets with plenty of small squares and a surprising amount of street entertainment, including fire-eaters. On top of this the nearby Beaches are outstanding
Everything but most especially the welcoming, kind hospitality of Claudio and his mother. We stayed in 7 places in Portugal over a month. This was our last and definitely the best. Claudio and his mother are very generous and humble hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is also brilliant- beautiful views of Setubal (which is about 2km down a hill) and close to the paradise beaches of Troia. Highly recommended.
Our host Miguel was super nice and helpful, giving us many recommendations for places to visit in Setúbal. We got complimentary bottle of water and wine. 🫶🏻
The view from the balcony was amazing. Although, because it’s so close to the port, it was pretty loud from time to time there.
Bathroom was fresh and clean, kitchen was full of different utensils, toasters and so on. We even had ice in the freezer:))
The IBIS sign easily visible from the main road.
Arrived in heavy rain - the parking is near the front door, but there is also a useful portico to unload bags.
There is a useful snack bar with a good menu.
There is a computer work station.
Good reception staff, who know the area and were able to make local excellent recommendations and provide a street map!
The place is absolutely stunning - bonus for having an AC. Close to the train station - perfect location close to numerous restaurants and extremely close to the ferry if you're thinking of heading into Trioa! In Setubal itself you have the option of walking to the beach or taking the bus - all very doable! Location is just amazing!
Great central location is Setubal. On street car parking adjacent the hotel. Super friendly and professional staff from reception to check out the team were exceptional. Room was good size, super clean and well decorated. Breakfast vouchers for cafe next door worked well - a good selection of items on the menu. Overall - excellent!
Very luxurious feel. The rooms are beautiful and all decorated differently and with a touch of the city in Portugal they are called. The staff were fantastic! Very helpful, made us feel at ease.
The breakfast was tasty and outside courtyard was beautiful. Attention to detail of the decor is magnificent. Will be back!!!
Everything was perfect - room was clean, cozy and comfortable, the shower was great with hot water whenever needed, the hosts Nena and Luis are an amazing couple with a great attitude always smiling and willing to help and guide you on your stay in Setúbal, I'll be back definitely. Thank you!
Casa Palmela is a magical place. The grounds, vinyerds are stunning. Staff could not have been more helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful, peaceful, relaxing. Our room was spacious bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was huge. We only stayed one night. I wish we stayed more time.
Hotel is easily within walking distance of the city centre and main places to visit. It is also quite close to bus and train stations. Hotel is also very quiet, so nights are not noisy at all. Staff are nice, and included breakfast is quite decent.
Hotel ideally located to get to know Setubal, the center is very close (10 min walk). The breakfast is very plentiful and varied. Our room on the seventh floor was quiet and with a very comfortable bed, the bathroom had a tub and great toiletries.
The guesthouse is a small, cute hostel close to the old part of the town and the sea. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was comfortable, very clean and the decoration makes you directly feel Portugal. I highly recommend the guesthouse!
We only stayed for one night as we were travelling through Portugal by train, and stopped here to go on a dolphin watching trip. Good hotel, easy check in, clean and the breakfast was good. Location is good.
The entire stay was exceptional - one of my favorite accommodations on our multi-week trip to Portugal. I felt so at home the minute I arrived and will absolutely book at 6/4 de Sado again and again!
This hotel was in a great location, close to everything. Very clean, lovely staff and a great breakfast. I loved their coffee machine…. they even had decaf which was definitely a bonus for me.
The hotel is situated in a very central location. It has a beautiful design and everything is super clean. Our room was specious and comfortable. Hotel staff was absolutely exceptional!
Really comfortable and clean apartment with a nespresso coffee machine. Lovely big bathroom. The nicest accommodation i stayed in on my trip to portugal! Would happily stay here again!
Location was good, couch and beds were comfortable, easy walk to restaurants and shopping, clean, view of the street with typical balcony and clothesline as seen in Portugal
The hotel is beautifully restored and very original. It was comfortable and very tasteful. Exceeded our expectations. Delicious breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff
We were very comfortable at Hotel Laitau. Comfy bed, very clean and all staff were very pleasant, professional, helpful and respectful. The breakfast was excellent!
