Vila do Conde is a pretty town on the coast. Easy to get to from Porto on the Metro. We also had a day out to Povoa de Varzim on the metro which is just a couple of stops away.
Vila do Conde has a few interesting museums relating to its history and development. Lots of opportunities to walk, a number of beaches and plenty of restaurants and bars, a great place for a short break in the sunshine.

The places we liked most in Vila do Conde were: a) the top of the hill with an old monastery and the 16th century aqueduct (2nd longest in Portugal), with a great view of the historic center; b) a truly wonderful restaurant -- REPUBLICA -- at 83 Praca da Republica, both food and service were great, and the interior is very pleasant; and c) within a 3-minute walk from the restaurant the Naval Construction Museum and a replica of a ship outside from the Age of Discoveries.

This is more of a guest house .
This is more of a guest house . It is above a bistro, There was no breakfast and when bistro was closed no one to provide assistance. The location is excellent across the street from the river with access to walk to shore. Staff was friendly and helpful when available. We chose it as it is on the coast north of Porto and close to the airport. Room and bed were small, but comfortable. We stayed only one night so it met our needs. Interesting town to explore.

Great little town, seems to have a lot to offer if you like quiet little towns. Not too built up, nice small town feel to it. We didn't have time to explore much - yet - but will definitely come back

Small town with many coves 20 min walk from town centre. . Gaia beach club had double sun bed with shade for €40/day
Sea very rough with swell , not safe for children
Life guards on duty. Daily Temperature in second week of July ranged from 21 to 37 degrees . No taxi rank. Nowhere to rent bikes in Vila do Condo. There is a metro in the town . Many good restaurants. Gaia beach very good value for food.
This is a very lovely hospitable place to stay..
Meire......the lady that looks after the house was absolutely lovely and made me feel so welcome.
The house has some wonderful facilities and is only a five minute walk from the beach. This is an ideal place to stay for singles or couples. I Was made to feel very at home here and met some really nice people while I was there. The location is fantastic and the people of Vila do conde are so nice....
Will definitely be back in October......i:)
Thank you for a wonderful stay....
the location was perfect for my needs, easy walking distance to where I needed to be. The room was well appointed, with good facilities. The kettle, toaster and microwave made preparing a simple breakfast or meal easy, although there are many good cafés and restaurants very locally. Alexandra was the perfect host, and speaks very good English. this hidden gem is well worth a visit - I travel regularly to Vila do Conde and although this was my first visit to Eça Agora, it will not be my last
Loved this hotel; would happily have stayed more than one night. Clean, spacious room with a good-sized modern bathroom, and one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in for a long time. The hotel was a very quiet and relaxing place to be. The rooftop bar has great views over Vila do Conde, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a very good selection of food for breakfast. The hotel is very conveniently located for anyone doing the camino.
The hotel was so historic. The host/owner had so much information on the place. You could tell he was very proud of the work that had been done on the place. We chose to have supper there. Paulo was our waiter and he was pleasant, kind and easy to communicate with. We are not fluent in Portuguese although we tried hard, he spoke good English and so that made it easy. The surroundings were beautiful.
The location of the house and the outside of the house were really nice. It was close to the beach and on walking distance to the city center and to a supermarket. The shower was not working when we arrived, but was fixed the next day, which meant we could just shower before we left. The owner made its apologies, but we did not get any discount.
Vila do Conde is a charming town and the location of the apartment was perfect, 10 minutes walk from a lovely beach with a very good cafe nearby. We were met by Maria who was very kind and helpful and showed us around the large, comfortable apartment which had everything needed for self-catering including a large fridge/freezer.
Wonderful interior in the common areas and hallways, very stylish but with a warm, cosy ambience. The room, though, had a more basic interior (bathroom was great, though). But with friendly staff, fine breakfast and great location (some noise from the street) I will still rate this stylish, but still cosy hotel at the top.
The location is great. Right by the ocean and an easy walk to all the sights to see. The place was spacious with a great kitchen to cook in. The owner gave us some great restaurant recommendations and always responded quickly to any questions I had. I would highly recommend this place.
The location was perfect, close to historical attractions, the beach, Lidl, cafés, and restaurants. When we arrived, the key was in a lock box and could be easily retrieved. The apartment was comfy and fully equipped. We recommed "Casa da Nau" to anyone visiting Vila do Conde.
The owners (husband and wife) are the nicest people with full intention of providing the best for their clients. They succeeded and I would recommend to anyone. It is not a four star hotel but they did provide four star customer service. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning stay. Recommended for pilgrims! The host is attentive to every single detail and you can see they care. Plenty of amenities for free, small surprise when arriving in the room. Hands down the best stay I had in Portugal.
Cozy, very tidy room, everything inside is new. The hotel itself can be seen to be very loved by the owner, very well maintained. Very cozy inside, with a terrace. Entry with codes, which is very convenient. I recommend it.
