All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

We thought everybody had left town.

We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings. Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

We are an elderly couple who have been to the area many times since 1975 and never tire of it. It has not suffered overdevelopment like many other resorts. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the food and laid back style . The surrounding area such as Ponte de Lima is superb so a car enhances the experience.

Esposende is a nice little town and a cool spot for kitesurfing. When I was there it was quiet and relaxing. I couldn't find amazing places for lunch or dinner actually, but some nice local patisseries instead. Having said that, there is some offer, just not to the level I was hoping. The coast is nice, the wind strong, people are nice too, and it is very close to other nice towns in the north of Portugal

Very nice place with nice sea and the special cakes from Fao. If you are in Esposende you have definitely to go to get some "Clarinhas de Fão". Fão is on the south bank of the river. You can find them in a very small "pastelaria".

Delighted with our stay in Marinhas. A modern hotel with big, bright rooms and good size beds. Great size toilet and shower too. The view of the countryside and river is beautiful - we arrived at sunset which was stunning to see. Great to have a balcony to sit out in and enjoy all of that. Staff very friendly and breakfast fine. Really good value for money. On camino route, for those who would enjoy a relaxing night's stay. Bustops near if required. .

Decent sized room, clean and tidy with a comfy bed. The shower/bathroom facilities were very new so really clean and in perfect working order. There was a well equip kitchen with a coffee machine for anyone requiring that. A nice bonus was the delightful sunny garden/terrace at the rear with tables and chairs. It's a bit of a walk to the centre of Esposende but then again it's not advertised as being in the town!

We are doing the Camino Portugués and pick the location because of the access to the route. We were happy with the location, the room and its quality. The staff person was superb and gave us good and clear directions to the route. In addition, I found it amusing that the hotel is in a gas station. An extra bonus was that the view from the rooms faced the ocean and the modern minimalist decor. Great little Place.

There was something for everyone at breakfast, a large array of dishes to choose from, both hot and cold. The staff were very helpful and friendly and exemplify why this hotel should really be a 4* not a 3*! The Veranda restaurant was a delight with excellent dishes produced to the highest of standards. We tried local wines that were recommended and found them to be both delicious and great value.

Very high level of hospitality. Impeccably clean and tidy. Not every 5 star hotel can brag with this variety of hygiene supplies found in the bathroom. The host, a noble-looking Portugese senhiora, did her best to accommodate my requests despite the language barrier. The interior of the villa is fancy, borderline boujee :).

I booked a hotel by mistake from Thursday to Friday And when I called to ask for some solution of this problem, the hotel said that there is nothing they could do, as they have already charged full price! But they even haven’t called me yesterday when I haven’t arrived because I planned to do it today Worst experience

The location is really unique. It is truley cool, that the hotel stayed exactly like in the 70's. We enjoyed the vintage views. For some beach days and pool days its a good location with the instagrammable factor ;) The breakfast was really simple, propperly fitting the 70s ;)
