The ambiance, the pool, the room, the garden, and the customer service. Literally everything. It’s a property with character and so much history. Luis is a very welcoming and friendly host. It’s a wonderful stay. I wish I stayed for longer.

We really enjoyed our stay at Oryza Guest House. The welcome we received was warm, efficient and friendly! Luis the owner gave us a history of his great-grandfather’s house and rice plantation which was very interesting. His suggestion of eating at a local restaurant was much appreciated. Our beautiful room with a large modern bathroom was very quiet and clean. The view overlooking the interior courtyard and adjacent gardens was inspiring. The breakfast was delicious with products from the property. The nearby parking made our stay easy and comfortable. We would definitely return! Highly recommended.

This amazing, charming facility with historical roots to the area was a fabulous find for us. The grounds are well maintained within the walls of this gated property. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated with attention to detail. The woodwork, panelling and flooring have been restored to its original grandeur. Lovely 😊

This was a very quaint guest house outside the city center of Coimbra, but not too far away by car. We were welcomed warmly the first night we arrived, and we felt that warmth during our entire two night stay. It was not a five star accomodation but we received five star treatment. The breakfast was wonderful, and we had full access to the kitchen whenever we wanted. Fruit, coffee, tea etc wa always there. The rooms were not fancy but very clean and cozy and the bathroom was new and very large. We would definitely stay here again

We stayed there with our three years old son and it was fantastic. The place is beautiful and perfect for families. They have an amazing garden with fruits, an area with chickens and lots of space for playing. The breakfast was excellent, everything was fresh and homemade, many items cooked with fruits from the garden. The host was great too, very helpful. Also Uber from the guest house to the city centre is only 5 euros. Looking forward to staying again!

We love the property the minute we arrived. Very charming and family run from generations. The front street reminds me of being in London with the street right in front of the entrance, inside is traditional Portugese decor, and the garden feel like you are in Tuscany with the grape vines and relaxing court yard. Breakfast was delicious and nice garden view. The host and the staff were very pleasant and above and beyond to make you feel at home. Home made port from the garden grapes were a big bonus upon checking. Will come back with longer stay next time.

Charming restored country home with elegant high ceilings, architectural details, and beautiful spaces to sleep, relax, and be served delicious local breakfast. Lídia and the staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. I enjoyed learning about and tasting the many products from their grounds. I look forward to returning!

Beautiful courtyard and organic farm. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Great shower. Lots of light. Breakfasts were freshly prepared, coffee and hot milk plentiful. Friendly and helpful staff made great suggestions for restaurants and sights. Felt like home away from home. Treated with care!
