We stayed at Quinta d'Abegoa's apartment, Casa do Souto, which is very cosy and ideal for two people. Everything is really well thought out so the apartment felt bigger than it actually was. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent. The outside space is beautiful - we loved sitting out, listening to the birds and the bells from the sheep, while enjoying the views of the both the castle and over towards the mountains and Spain. We made the most of being able to walk to restaurants in Marvao (although it is uphill all the way!) but we also cooked at the property - the kitchen is tiny but is very well-equipped and has everything you need to self-cater. Our host, Rosa, looked after us extremely well, bringing us breakfast every day, and nothing was too much trouble. We love the area around Marvao and will definitely return for another stay at Casa do Souto.

Located on the slope of Marvão, Quinta d’Abegoa is just a 5-minute drive from Marvão Castle. It offers spacious villas with well-stocked kitchens and barbecue facilities. Free Wi-Fi is available. Villas at Abegoa feature a wooden décor and a patio with garden and mountain views. They also include a shared washing machine and dishwasher. Every morning a buffet breakfast is served. Guests can swim in the outdoor pool or just stroll in the gardens and lawns. Walking trails, hiking and tours can be arranged. Quinta d’Abegoa is 10 minutes’ drive to the Roman ruins of Ammaia, located within Nature Park of the Serra de São Mamede.
