Cascais is a small city located on the outskirts of Lisbon. Once a fishing village and defence outpost, the royalty transformed it into a stylish summer resort. Mixing beautiful beaches, elegant mansions, imposing fortifications, and a wide variety of hotels, Cascais is a great option for every season.
King Luís II used the city as his summer residence from 1870 to 1908, attracting other celebrities, and changing the destiny of the tranquil village forever. Modern roads and railway lines linking to Lisbon and Sintra were built, as well as a casino and other facilities. Some of the best hotels and 5-star resorts in Cascais date back to these times.
Nowadays, the town is a cosmopolitan beach retreat along the Estoril Coast, where people from Lisbon and other Portugal cities come for a day or weekend escapade. Many foreign tourists prefer its more relaxed hotels over the sometimes hectic Lisbon atmosphere.
Don’t miss the Citadel, rebuilt during the 16th century in a typical star-shaped Renaissance style. Other attractions include the Museum of the Sea and the ‘Paula Rego House of Stories’.
Beach hotels are the gem of Cascais and you can find a wide range on Booking.com. Check your availability with enough time in advance, as the city remains a popular summer destination.
I am very disappointed. The apartment is nothing like the photos...old and smelly. Very low maintenance to the property. There was a mole at the bathroom and a lot of Flys at the bath and washroom. The smell was awful of some very harsh cleaning liquid mixed with mole smell. They just took a very poor condition apartment and painted everything in white but it is still old and smelly ...painted the mole as well but you could still see and smell it

I love Cascais!
I love Cascais! There are many things to do here and nearby locations too. Great restaurants, shopping, beautiful parks, nature walks, cafes, museums, outdoor markets and not far from Cascais are the palaces of Sintra and even a Moorish castle. There is a train station in Cascais with trains that go directly into Lisbon in about 25 minutes. Without hesitation i recommend a visit to this beautiful city. I think you will love it too!

Cascais is a beautiful area.
Cascais is a beautiful area. Easily one of the most prettiest places we have stayed in. A beautiful beach, shops, restaurants and an array of beautiful buildings. Easy to pop on the train to Lisbon which took 40 mins and worth the few euros it cost. We visited in Nov so the weather wasn't hot but we had a lovely warm breeze plus a few showers but you expect that at that time of year.
We went to Cascais for my mum's birthday, and the hotel staff made us feel so welcome, they made my mum's birthday so special, with a little surprise in our room.
Breakfast was excellent, very tasty and good variety for any dietary requirements, fresh local food.
The room was comfortable with good size bed, and the hotel was very clean and well maintained.
The best part is the staff, they love what they do, and you feel it.
I recommend Art 4 you Cascais suites, the team will make you feel like you are part of a family 😊
This hotel was beautiful...it was like staying in a grand estate home. Our room, although pricey, was gorgeous with very comfortable beds. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our included breakfast was very good. Location was exceptional...close to all the restaurants and shops and walking distance to a very nice beach where you can rent chairs and umbrella for the day. There was a music festival going on and we had the luxury of sitting in our room and listening to the live music. We stayed for 3 nights.
The staff was very friendly and gave us a free upgrade to (I suppose the 'best') room with a very nice terrace on the fourth flour. The room was very clean and had everything we needed: a big shower, good bed, coffee machine, large tv, and very big terrace with sun all day! Nice view and very good location in the middle of the centre and very close to all beaches of Cascais. The manager told us the hotel opened just before covid - beginning 2020, so all was still very new. Breakfast was also good!
The house is just one of the best locations that can be found in Cascais. Quiet, near Guincho beach and at the entrance of a pine forest, you couldn't ask for better. Fully equipped and spacious enough for a small family. An interior courtyard allows children to play safely or have meals in complete relaxation. But what makes the real asset of this rental is its manager Rodrigo. His availability, discretion and kindness will make your stay most pleasant.
Definitely the place to go if you are in Cascais and do NOT want an impersonal big hotel. Casa Velha is one of the best boutique hotels I have been in a long time; it is a small world in itself where you can follow your time far from the crowds. Great staff always ready to help. Great location, close to the center and to very good locals restaurants. Also, beds (and pillows) are really really comfortable. I will most definitely be back.
Breakfast was delicious but very important to arrive early because it gets crowded around 9am. The hotel grounds and proximity to Cascais were perfect. Also Michael at the front desk was very helpful throughout our stay and recommended alternative transportation for my mom and I to Fatima that saved us both time and money. Thank you! We hope to be back again!
I had a room with a private bathroom and my room was very spacious (twice the size of any hotel room) and clean. The staff were very friendly, helpful and overwhelmingly kind. I extended my stay for another night because the facilities and people were so lovely!
I will definitely be back again and I highly recommend Luna House to anyone staying in Cascais.
Staff was extremely helpful in several cases and very friendly. Location is superb. Food was excellent. We appreciate the very early morning “breakfast boxes” to accommodate our 6:30am departure time. We also appreciate the cleanliness and amenities of the hotel and room. Our best place to stay in Portugal after 2-1/2 weeks of traveling the country.
The hotel is right on the beach. absolutely perfect for all water sports (and observing!). The room we stayed in was clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast included in the room was pleasant. The bar was a nice area to relax in too. All staff spoke really good English and were helpful when asked questions. The room was cleaned daily.
Lovely old, quirky Cascais house with a huge garden that has been done up as a guesthouse. Spotlessly clean and great value for money. I needed a crashpad for a night in Cascais as I was in town for a meeting and did not want to waste a ton of money on overpriced hotels. My room had an ensuite bathroom which was great.
This is one of the best hotels! Lovely rooms, great ocean view, delicious breakfast with lots of choice. But the most important asset of the hotel is their staff, who are always in a good mood and always ready to resolve any issues.
I highly recommend this hotel!
Really top of line hotel In Cascais. Looks out over the Atlantic. The staff is super nice! The junior suite is spacious and comfortable. Fantastic balcony if you get a sea view room. Great bathrooms. I mean, there’s literally nothing not to like here.
A real gem in Cascais..a truly 5 stars boutique hotel. The service is amazing, personalized and very effecient. Breakfast is good with many options.
The best is the location. Tons of restaurants and coffee shops near by, 5 minutes walk to the beach.
Not a 5 star hotel. A little tired. Breakfast options limited. Reception staff a little brusque. Overpriced for what you get. BUT, in mitigation, a wonderful location in a lovely town with endless choice of food and drink. Would go again.
This hotel is one of the nicest I've ever stayed in. The view from the pool area is stunning. Our room was fabulous. The location for the beach or enjoying walking around Cascais is perfect. Overall a perfect stay.
We loved our staying in this hotel. Staff are very friendly, place is clean and the facilities are great. Close to the city centre and beaches. We definitely would recommend this place.
The location is great. Our room gave us direct view of the Ocean and the cliffs. We also enjoyed the food very much. Probably the best thing about Farol Hotel is the food.
