The apartments are adapted to the historical and architectural characteristics of each building. Along the new building, in Rua de Trás, the apartments Villa I and Villa II open onto the neighboring façades, dominated by brightly colored glazed tiles and wooden window frames. On the corner of Rua de Trás, the duplex apartment Villa III opens to Largo dos Lóios, benefitting from a long terrace overlooking the city. In Viela Estreita dos Lóios, the apartment Villa IV establishes a frank relationship with the streetlight and with the bright view over Morro da Sé. The same applies to interior materials: in Villa I and Villa II apartments, new concrete floors and ceilings establish a contrast with all amenity spaces - kitchens and bathrooms - located in lacquered wood “closets”, which separate the common areas from the rooms. Those “closets” have been lined with Portuguese handmade tiles from the inside. In the Villa III and Villa IV apartments, the old wooden structures of the roofs contrast with the new amenity closets, also in lacquered wood. In Villa Lóios, past and present coexist in an heritage symbiosis Villa Lóios evokes the memory of nineteenth-century communal villages of labor or bourgeois occupation, which we find in the historical centers of industrialized cities. This Villa results of the association of five contiguous buildings in the heart of Porto - between Largo dos Lóios and Clérigos Church -, maintaining the matrix, form and style characteristic of each of the epochs they were built (from the 18th to the 21st century). Two of these previously ruined lots gave way to a contemporary building, with 9 meters of glassed front, which "dialogues" with the various surrounding facades; and from which we have access to the other buildings and apartments through a common staircase and elevator. Those staircase and elevator are adjacent to a communal tree-lined courtyard, which ensures intimacy and privacy to the various floors around it.
