The History

At the end of the reign of King D. Fernando of Portugal (1350-1369) settled here hermit monks, coming from Serra de Ossa. With what they grew on the farm they ensured their own sustenance ("prover" in Portuguese) and also helped the poor. As in this farm were several springs, lots of water and good soil, it was and still is a good place of “provença” (which means sustain/feed/grow). Therefore the name of the property.

And this continuous to nowadays, where exists inside the property a variety of agricultural plantations such as a vineyard, oranges and lemon orchard, walnuts orchard, olive plantation, a herb garden, a little river into a small lake and several other charming places.
