Penha Longa is an elegant palazzo-style estate situated among the rolling hills of the Sintra Cascais Nature Reserve. The 5-star resort features a 27-hole golf course and a state-of-the-art 1,500m² spa centre. The resort's LAB restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in November of 2016. All guest rooms feature private balconies, giving views across the landscaped gardens, swimming pools and golf courses. Beds are fitted with Egyptian cotton sheets, and all rooms are equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine, air conditioning, iPod docking station, a high-speed internet connection and a plasma-screen TV. Perhaps the most famous of these is the recently-renovated Midori, Portugal's first michelin-starred Japanese restaurant. Also featured are Sergi Arola's LAB and Arola restaurants, the AQUA seasonal restaurant and the off-site Villa Tamariz Utopia, located on the Estoril coast. The Eneko Lisboa restaurant, by chef Eneko Atxa, who currently holds 5 Michelin stars, brings fine dining options with local nuances, while the Basque restaurant aims to recreate the typical Basque tavern cuisine. The Penha Longa Mercatto italian restaurant is also the site of the daily breakfast buffet, with scenic views over the Sintra mountains. The resort's golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and is in the top 30 in Continental Europe. The hotel has many recreation facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, both tennis and squash courts, horse riding, fitness centre and a spa with treatments and an exclusive garden. A children’s playground, mini golf course and Kids' Club are also featured. Penha Longa is in a prime location for hiking and cycling excursions. The resort is a 25-minute drive from the Lisbon International Airport.
