Tomar was one of the most influential cities in the Iberian Peninsula during the 13th Century. It is famous by its Convento of Christ, primarily the stronghold of Knight Templars and later transferred to the order of Christ. In the Convento of Christ visitors can see different architecture style from Gothic, Manueline and Renaissance with particular attention to the Church (Ambulatory) with historical structures referring to Jerusalem. The city presents a unique scenery with river Nabão, its historical centre, beautiful gardens and typical houses. The synagogue of Tomar, the Temple Jewish built at 15th century is one of the attraction we recommend.
The other stop is visiting the Almourol castle with its topology at the top of a massive granitic island at Tagus river. Visitors can enjoy visiting the castle crossing the river by a small boat and so enjoying the river banks and the landscape.
