Monument to the Heroes of the Peninsula War - Porto

Detail of the base of the Monumento aos Heróis da Guerra Peninsular (Monument to the Heroes of the Peninsula War) in Porto. The monument is set in the centre of the large round-a-bout of Rotunda da Boavista and commemorates the victory of the Portuguese and British forces against those of Napoleon in the 1807-1814 war. Howver, the monument came somewhat later, only being completed in 1951.
