A hairpin bend in one of Madeira's less than direct roads. Although it's not a great distance from one side of the island to the other, there aren't any straight roads, and they certainly aren't for the faint hearted!

The levada are a series of irrigation channels running from the wet north to the dry south of the island. They are now very popular as hiking roots
