Praia da Mira

Praia da Mira

A little less remote than Quierios and Tocha, Praia da Mira sits on a small lagoon 35km north of Figueira da Foz and 29km south of Aveiro.

This relatively well-developed tourist destination pretty much consists of one very long main street finishing at a seemingly endless white sandy beach, backed by dunes and stretching north and south as far as the eye can see. The main street is not particularly beautiful and mostly characterised by modern apartment buildings, bars, cafes and restaurants selling inexpensive seafood.

This is the perfect place for a simple and relaxing beach holiday. There are loads of accommodation options and two official campsites available for those of you who want to simply stroll and sun bathe. The beach has a blue flag and lifeguards in summer and is generally good for both swimming and surfing, with consistent beach waves. There are occasional direct buses from both Aveiro and Coimbra or you can change at the inland village of Mira, 7km away.
