Houses on Rua Dom Manuel II - Porto

Houses on Rua Dom Manuel II in Porto. This street is fairly central and runs past the university medical school and Crystal Palace gardens.

I love Porto and its seemingly random mix of decor that make up its streets. However, I don't know if I think this is attractive, quirky or just ugly. When you look at the buildings closer you'll spot lots of details and many of these houses must have been built for quite wealthy people. They are big buildings that go back a long way and have high-ceilinged rooms with big windows and ornate balconies. Behind are surprisingly large gardens too.

That said, most of them could do with a good scrub and a lick of paint, but then it wouldn't look like Porto anymore!
